Help & FAQ

Questions, answered plainly.

How Sigma Learn works, what it costs and what it does with your data. If your question is not here, ask us.

Getting started

What is Sigma Learn?
A study platform with syllabus-mapped courses, past-paper question banks, interactive simulations and an AI tutor — for IGCSE, International A Level, AP, IB and SAT learners.
Do I need an account?
No. As a guest you can open every question bank and every interactive, and the first 60% of the lessons in every course; your progress is kept in that browser. A free account keeps your progress, points and whiteboards with you on any device.
How do I sign up?
Choose Sign up free, enter your name, email, a username and a password, and you are in. There is nothing to pay and no card to enter.
Which subjects are covered?
Mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science and economics.
Which devices does it work on?
Any modern browser on a laptop, tablet or phone. Handwriting works best on a tablet with a stylus.

Courses & practice

Which exam boards do the courses follow?
Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel for IGCSE and International A Level, and the College Board for AP. The curricula section of the home page shows what is live for each.
Where do the questions come from?
Question banks are built from recent past papers, split into their parts, with the mark scheme attached to every part. Lesson assessments are written for the lesson.
How is my answer marked?
Choice, ordering, sorting and exact answers are marked instantly. Written, drawn and handwritten answers are marked by AI against the mark scheme.
Can I download the papers?
No. The papers are worked on screen, part by part, with the solution and mark scheme on every question; the original PDFs stay with the exam boards.
Can I reset my progress?
Yes. Settings → Account & security has a reset for your learning data. Your account stays as it is.

AI

What does the AI do?
Two things: Ask AI explains the lesson or question you are on, and AI marking checks written answers against the mark scheme.
Which AI model is used?
Anthropic’s Claude.
Is the AI free?
A little of it. A free account gets 7 AI markings and 3 Ask AI questions a week; they don’t carry over, and the count starts again every Monday. A plan that includes AI gives much more. Guests need to sign in first.
Can the AI be wrong?
Yes. Treat it as a tutor, not an examiner. The solution and mark scheme are always on the question so you can check.

Plans & billing

What does the Free plan include?
Every question bank and interactive, the first 60% of the lessons in every course, notebooks and your progress, and 7 AI markings and 3 Ask AI questions a week. A guest gets the same without an account.
What does Pro add?
Every lesson in every course, and the AI tutor and AI marking included — no key to set up. See pricing.
Is there a yearly plan or a student discount?
The plans, their prices and how each is billed are all on the pricing page. There is no student discount.
Can I cancel?
Yes, at any time, from Settings → Subscription & billing. You keep everything on the Free plan.

Privacy & safety

What do you store about me?
Your account details (name, username, email), and your learning data: answers, marks, points, streak and notebooks. The privacy page has the full list.
Do you sell my data or show ads?
No.
What is sent to the AI?
When you use Ask AI or AI marking, your question or answer and the lesson or question it is about are sent to Anthropic’s Claude to produce the reply.
Can I delete my data?
You can reset your learning data yourself in Settings. To delete the account itself, contact us and an administrator will remove it.

Schools & families

Can teachers use Sigma Learn with a class?
Yes — no accounts are needed to put a lesson, a paper or an interactive on the board today. Educator profiles are set up by us; see for educators.
Can a guardian see their child’s progress?
Progress reports are still being built. Until then, the simplest way is to look at their question bank together: every paper shows what was right, partly right and wrong. See for guardians.
How do we get accounts for a whole school?
Learners can sign up themselves. For educator profiles, or accounts made in bulk, talk to us about an institution.
